A Heart Sustained

Though pricked and squeezed, pierced and sliced

And even torn asunder;

A heart sustained can beat again

In strength as bold as thunder

Inner strength depleted

Internal resource spent

Outside working from within

Enabling life extant

Hope is only hopeful

With certainty assured

Repair brought only by sustainer;

Sole provision to endure

Designed and planned in foresight

In foresight – healed, restored, sustained

Supple vigour, from scars and healing

Wrought and fashioned; formed through pain

Life-giver and sustainer – Grace,

Bearing scars which stem from pain

Is only hope that my life’s sentence,

Will continue on – sustained

Jewelsmith – Catherine the Jeweller

Apple of My Eye

The eye’s precious apple

Thwarted, oppressed, battered, slain

Though at large in rebellion

A precious few will remain

For the eye to behold

In glory – redeem, restore, reclaim

Till the eye has his purpose

Time, word, fulfillment ingrained

The eye will return on those

Who thwart, batter, slay

In like manner avenge

His apple, since long-past days

Reflections on Israel…

Storm of Night, Light of Day

It sounds like cleansing refreshment

Announced with a flash and a roar

Tumble and rumble and light from on high

Through the sky and down onto the floor

Enlightenment, pounding, now earthbound

All surfaces will be awash

The grease and the dust long-settled

Will be taken away by the rush

When all becomes calm, has been seasoned

As this night slips forever away

May the view be restored in the brightness

Clear perspective in the light of new day
