Hoping

Hoping while waiting’s a slow steady trudge

Like the creeping of lava or the “stuck” of a sludge

A hope that moves forward, one step at a time

Then waits to be certain the next step’s defined

Hope and endurance, when both are at hand

Are the dogged forbearance, ere you walk or you stand

Hope sees the light at the tunnel’s deep end

So enduring the slog has a masterful edge

A hope laid in trust, is a hope that’s secure

When a trudge, or a wait, or a walk you endure

The One who is proven a trustworthy soul

Is where hope’s that are realised can make a soul whole

A Song for the Season

The soul greatly shows all of greatness, supreme

And the breath of life, leaping, has a great song to sing

Of Divinity’s power and Redeemer’s great love

That in grace and in mercy, lives among us, the dove

As he looked all around, his gaze firmly set

On we who are bound, for by love we’re beset

We beheld from a wide-open eye and confessed

That as one, so the whole, through the ages he’d bless

You see, he who is able – has the power to do

Has made done the magnificent, for me and for you

So, in awe and as sacred, we hold to his name

Consid’ring his power and mercy, rests on each one the same

Evidently wielding the strength of his own

Through dispersing those high, in thought and in soul

Satisfying those longing with that which is good

And those possessed of abundance, sent empty to brood

The great one who succours the child of his love

In his mindful compassion and goodwill toward

Accordingly speaking to those gone before

Our father of faith, and those sown, evermore

Christmas Greetings

The Compassion and the Passion

A merciless master

My suffering prolonged

O sin, you would have me

Alone, without song

My saviour, the servant

Compassion’s concern

Would pursue all my rescue

E’en while I yet spurned

With glory obscured

Power hidden, en-veiled

He served us, his humans

Then the mountain he scaled

Raised to be lowered

Shame brought release

For my sin-burdened soul

To find its long-lasting peace

In your death…

The inherited cycle is broke

Sin’s hold cannot keep me

Your new life brings me hope

Life-blood’s passed on

From parent to child

In your blood shed abroad

I’m no longer beguiled

Sin’s great deception?

That I’m still compelled

To do all its bidding

That I’m under its spell

But my Jesus, you triumphed

In freedom, empowered

A spirit-led choice

To walk the life I’m endowed

With bended knee’s adoration

In restored humanity, stand

Before the depth of your feeling

Poured over me, by your hand

The Dark Knight

In dark of night

The dark knight rides

His steed a raven black

Encompassed by

A blade array

On this commissioned trek

The quest’s great goal

Lay further up

And further into what!?

A veiled, obscure

And distant yet –

And undisclosed-ed lot

A duty calls

In light of day

Or deepest, darkest night

In long great strides

The dark knight rides

Confronting fear and might

If triumphant then

At quest’s long end

Turn home on wings of pride

If loss and life

The lot to bear

Take it all in stride

But if the end

To bear is death

The dark knight’s brand new day

Those left behind

Take courage by

Dark knights riding, come what may

The Heart’s Gift

A heart’s great gift

Is to be known

So hold it care…

…fully, if shown

Heart’s placed on sleeves

Can bump and bruise

So hold with care…

…ful strokes of truth

The truest heart

In love responds

With gifts of know…

…ing and of song

For heat’s in tune

Their song will sing

A lyric note…

…what e’er the din

Mountain View

Mountain song of green

Reach for notes of sky-bright blue

Wispy white on high

Foretell the melody of dew

Dancing drops of life

Rest upon the floor-bed leafed

Circling breeze move freely

Like a story-sword, unsheathed

—————————————————-

The music of creation

A harmony of song

Dancing breeze of freedom

Lifts the lifeless to the throng

A story rich in colour

Paints a picture, plain in view

The vista bright or shadowed

Long-attended, or brand new
