The Compassion and the Passion

A merciless master

My suffering prolonged

O sin, you would have me

Alone, without song

My saviour, the servant

Compassion’s concern

Would pursue all my rescue

E’en while I yet spurned

With glory obscured

Power hidden, en-veiled

He served us, his humans

Then the mountain he scaled

Raised to be lowered

Shame brought release

For my sin-burdened soul

To find its long-lasting peace

In your death…

The inherited cycle is broke

Sin’s hold cannot keep me

Your new life brings me hope

Life-blood’s passed on

From parent to child

In your blood shed abroad

I’m no longer beguiled

Sin’s great deception?

That I’m still compelled

To do all its bidding

That I’m under its spell

But my Jesus, you triumphed

In freedom, empowered

A spirit-led choice

To walk the life I’m endowed

With bended knee’s adoration

In restored humanity, stand

Before the depth of your feeling

Poured over me, by your hand

Life’s March

Life passes by

The March of time

We hasten, pause

See rain and shine

But each one’s march

Begins and ends

In this we all will share,

My friends

Sometime march

In single file

Or pass the time

En masse, a while

Two-by-two

Lead on, be lead

Keep in step

Or lag instead

Distracted

One may march askew

The wounded

Drag a limb or two

But others may

Lift some on high

And give the march

Of two a try

Onward, though

We all shall plod

Whether we are

Or how we’re shod

Into the vast

Eternity

Our marching out

Parade, will be

Goodbye

Strolling past, we stop and chat

I’m riding out, you’re riding back

Weed my garden, seek my good

Work on the farm, helped ‘cause you could

You ask about my younger charges

Neighbours help with tasks the hardest

Sorting out the shed of heartbreak

Eased you, some, of all my heart ache

Chatting, walking, get to know

As neighbours, friends, then off we’d go

Meeting up, and passing by

Now tears are all that fill my eye

Goodbye

Life

My beginning was first breath from You

Existence, ne’er before been hewn

But love and grace and choice make new

A life that You have given

Rebellion was of all my choosing

But choice from You was all redemption

Beaten, lonely, scorned and bleeding

Your life that you have given

Accepted, chosen loved and wanted

Washed by blood, my purchase granted

Belonging, living, free, untainted

New life that You have given

Free to live in joy unending

Peace and purpose all Your sending

Sing Your praise, all are bending

This life, we have been given

Ezekiel 33

Turn, O turn! Everyone turn

Who has been turned away

Return, restore, give back and walk

The life of right, be swayed

To turn from right to wickedness

Will bring to you a death

Turn from wickedness to right

Into light of life be swept!

I will judge each one of you

According to your ways

I take no pleasure in one’s death;

O turn and live today

My Son, for wickedness has died

His righteousness will give

To those who turn and will remain;

Abide in Him and live!

Oh, Mother of Mine

Mum wedding day

Oh, mother of mine

Whose love, so divine

Was comfort to all

Whenever we’d call

Inviting us in

After thought or at whim

Grace and mercy all round

Loving arms to surround

Providing tastes to delight

Waiting up in the night

Home and clothing so clean

Diligence gone unseen

Growing gardens of flowers

Beholding beauty was ours

Grace was personified

In your life, now glorified

A piece of us left with you

When to Christ’s feast you flew

What joy it will be

When greets us, Saviour and thee

Sin…is not wrong doing, it is wrong being, deliberate and emphatic independence of God…

Independence of our designer, creator and restorer.

As was mentioned today; a $50 note that has fallen in the toilet, the kitty litter, the mud, or anywhere else that would make it dirty, would still be of value to me. So is our value to Jesus, no matter how dirty our independence of Him has made us.

If Jesus was kept from death, I would have been kept from life.

Does God have to reveal Himself as I determine, for me to believe Him; or do I believe Him because of how and who He has already revealed Himself to be?

It was my sin that held Him there, until it was accomplished.
His dying breath has brought me life, I know that it is finished.
